Hey there, I'm TreatLadyRVA, the owner and trainer for Alpha Love.
I'm also a CGC Evaluator for AKC and a volunteer for Hanover County Dog Parks.
is my calling
I began studying dog behavior in 2006 as an only option to saving my dogs life. The late Bongo Valentine was an overly confident, super brilliant dog with high risk aggression towards dogs. It took about a year of constant research, making lifestyle changes and implementing training techniques to earn each others trust and respect but it was worth the effort because Bongo blossomed into the most obedient dog I've met to this day.
Since then I have adopted two Great Pyrenees litter mates, Moto and Fila, and a Standard Poodle named Emma and they are wonderful!
Destiny found me in 2013 when a friend of mine asked me to watch her dog Ollie, she suggested I offer this service to other people and I eagerly took her advice. Over the past few years we've had hundreds of different dogs visit our home. I quickly realized the skills obtained rehabilitating Bongo and ability to decipher canine body language made me the perfect sitter while invariably furthering my education on domestic dog behavior. Soon owners were asking for advice and insisting on hiring me to train their dogs. After seeing clients almost in tears with appreciation from witnessing their dogs' potential, I then decided to switch my full time, fifteen year bartending career to open my availability for training lessons.
Animal psychology is a never ending study. I strive to stay updated on the latest ethical and science-based methods. At the same time I am not against any tools or methods when used properly. Every dog has a different personality and boarding multiple dogs has been the best hands on educational experience a trainer can obtain. I get so much enjoyment watching the dogs socialize and learning how they communicate with each other.
